Air Conditioning Basic
Air conditioning is a process of altering the properties of indoor air including high humidity and working with the “heat transfer” theory. Air conditioners use chemicals called “refrigerator” which easily converts from a gas to a liquid and back again. This chemical is used to transfer heat from the air inside of a home to the outside air.
A typical central air conditioning system consists of five main components. These include:
1 – The outdoor unit to exchange heat with outdoor air (called Condenser Coil)
2 – The indoor coil to exchange heat with indoor air (called Evaporator Coil)
3 – The blower to circulate the conditioned air throughout the home (called Blower Motor )
4 – Compressor .The compressor is responsible for circulating the refrigerant throughout the system.
5 – Fan motor. Help to transfer heat from outside coil to outside air.
This circulation, as well as changes in state and pressure , the blower motor moves indoor air across the evaporator coil . At that point it allows the refrigerant to absorb heat from inside the home and rejects it outside the home . When the air passes from the evaporator coil the dehumidification occurs and humidity condensates throughout the evaporator and drains. The fan moves air across the outside unit condenser coil which allows heat from the refrigerant to be transferred to the outside air.
